My feminist vision is still developing. I combine different elements from the second and third wave

Welcome to the two sex, a Dutch feminist blog. My name is Tikara, and I'm the years to do my best to write interesting articles on many topics.
My vision of feminism is based on the notion that women are human beings and so when people need to be treated, which seems at first sight quite logical but in practice not always be the case. Out of that idea I pull findings such as the fact that women should have access to their life, body and spirit: women should be able to choose abortion, and not some other way forced by doctors, clara barton in the civil war the state or their partners; women are people with their own wishes clara barton in the civil war and desires and complex varying identities, I also hate it when women are put in boxes - as "virgin", "slut," "mother," "prudish" ... violence against women, both sexually and physically has risen sharply in recent years. clara barton in the civil war In Belgium, half of all women sexually abuse them. But here nothing is done and this is hardly news ... women should not, by force or social or economic pressure, are forced to sell themselves as in prostitution / pornography. My opinion pimps will this also be clear: away with it; I believe that something is individueels sexism not only, but also a system that tries to keep women suppressed. The term patriarchy is often useful but quite bluntly, I'm going to try to work out something clara barton in the civil war deeper and more nuanced. Moreover, the term for a whole lot of what is still used, I am more and more favor to simply "the system of sexism" speak.
My feminist vision is still developing. I combine different elements from the second and third wave, sociology, psychology and philosophy. As a basis I follow a second wave radical feminist perspective, with links and trans-feminist feminist perspectives. I think the basic analysis clara barton in the civil war such as that originated in the second wave, still largely correct, and as relevant as ever. Violence against women is still not disappeared, and a lot of problems such as beauty ideals clara barton in the civil war and the porn culture seem even worse.
I am also a big fan of intersection think there are different forms of oppression such as sexism, heterosexism, racism, and which complement and reinforce each other. For the liberation of women, it is necessary that all forms of oppression disappear.
Because I am a graduate student in psychology, I suddenly go seize the opportunity to put my training for something useful and try to analyze how stereotypes are created, what psychological mechanisms play in oppression, and what effects sexist mass media have on our minds. Well I am a critical psychologist, I often find the training very atomic and individualistic, clara barton in the civil war and then I miss something: social structures have an effect on people, clara barton in the civil war and power is an important concept that should not be forgotten. Individuals clara barton in the civil war should not be blamed for social problems.
I hate to sociobiology, evolutionary psychology and Darwinian feminism. I think that's clara barton in the civil war problematic visions are a lot of differences in power between men and women as "natural" and "organic" clara barton in the civil war are trying to suggest. It is natural, so it's good and therefore it does not need to change. Many of these "natural" differences to me connected to power and oppression, the organization of society.
Furthermore, I also hate the ever further creeping cult of beauty ideals which people are made insecure and then have to buy a solution clara barton in the civil war such as plastic surgery of labia, liposuction or breast clara barton in the civil war augmentation.
Last but not least I am going to write about free will, privileges, choices and about some problems with some form of third-wave clara barton in the civil war feminism, the idea that the liberating would be for women to say, a pole dancing course to follow and rebellious to do while actually simply plays into the hands of the dominant sexist culture. A lot of problems seem to occur to me by the permanent pressure from society to conform. clara barton in the civil war Those who do not, will be punished. Women who want to find rebel often no real alternatives and then fake liberating perspectives come up which unfortunately clara barton in the civil war are not a threat to the current state of affairs.
I've only recently discovered some interesting Dutch blogs, I'm definitely more about writing, and I read a long time some super interesting English-language blogs as Jenn, Nine Deuce, Maggie Hays and Questioning Transphobia. The "F

Weblog Meulenbelt Maaike Meijer exemplary men
Can you say that reading is a delightful? Well a few times though. katy perry vanity fair Yesterday I was at Atria (the successor of what was once the IIAV - woman archive was) for the first of a series katy perry vanity fair of lectures katy perry vanity fair by Maaike Meijer about men and imaging.
I know Maaike, who is now professor of gender and diversity at the University of Maastricht, and again just before her retirement is still of very old days when they just twenties for much commotion caused by its club Purple September that the heterosexual norm also within the women suggested for discussion. I was not the only participant in the lecture series to notice that we have traveled a long journey, that precisely Maaike Meyer is concerned now with masculinity.
But I agree with her: we want that for women essentially what changes, we must not only among women but rather in men. Because: gender is not only a collective term for everything that has to do with masculinity and femininity, behavior, psychology, standards, appearance, gender is relational. It is also a question of what happens between men and women. If there are some changes in women, there is also some changes in men.
Men are called today to be in crisis, and some give for this debt to women, or rather, feminism, men deprives their 'masculinity', including katy perry vanity fair by entering the calibrated katy perry vanity fair men domains under the old feminist slogan: everything men can women can. Conversely, katy perry vanity fair men have much more difficulty, or unwillingness, to enter the women's domains, if you see a lot more involved fatherhood.
The question katy perry vanity fair is, says Meijer, or posited crisis of masculinity is a problem or just the beginning of a solution. Once they were women who rebelled against their men derivative exist. But now women are less likely 'the walker, to bear the male ego, "men have to move. This is seen as profit, as Meyer does, we could also talk sometimes about the backlash that is part of that - see the book by Michael Kimmel, katy perry vanity fair Angry white men that I just got out, and that the massive aggression in part of the Caucasian white men declares in the US from their loss of 'male white privilege', the class position of the middle class and educated working class plummets, and a lot of resentment about being released on black Americans, and in particular women on top of that once men deprive the opportunity to at least have 'real men' are - the boss in the house, who is entitled to care and sex based on his breadwinner.
But back to Maaike Meijer, who claims to be a huge utopiste, thus mainly looking at the profit in all the turmoil of the times. She does so in an original way, by looking at a wildly katy perry vanity fair popular TV series: Borgen. I also sat glued to the tube, and thought I had become a bit shallow, I found a much more interesting than the TV series stack novels unread lies next to my bed. So fine that a professor will tell me that I'm completely at the time to be so enthralled.
What's the point? The politician who has the lead role in the series Borgen, she becomes prime minister of Denmark, is a woman of flesh and blood, and thus also with family life, husband and two children. katy perry vanity fair So this is interesting: formerly katy perry vanity fair (and still do) you had soap operas, which were mostly about private life for women so, and you had the exciting men series katy perry vanity fair with unflappable hero in the lead role, which never apparently had difficulties in their personal relationships, they just did not have, or that did not matter. With this new heroine is shunted old gap: we see a woman struggling katy perry vanity fair with the balance between its ambitions and her family life, and we see her husband struggle with the balance between his progressive views that it is normal for him a few years retires for the important function of his wife, and the fact that he as a man just does not pull. So wonderful drama. Many Layered: woman in a man's world, trying to maintain her integrity and men often undermines and their apropos spends just doing what she feels she has to do, with lacquer to male conventions, as well as men who have a hard time when women calibrated role not play anymore.
And this is interesting: after this new heroine, more and more series with complex heroines katy perry vanity fair in the lead, Maaike called Penoza and the Killing, all of which are extremely popular, and even more fun behind it to seem as if the role of the male heroes is shifting: you also see them more and more men also do not have it easy in their personal ring

During National Women

40 years after the first Dolle Mina action in Belgium ginza contacts (1970), 38 years after the first National Women's Day (1972), 36 years after the opening of the first women's centers (1974), 33 years after the creation of the fem-socbeweging (1977 ), 13 years after the establishment of FAM (1997), two years after the establishment of FEL (2008) and two years after the start of this blog (2008) ... [1] There is a lot of organized and campaigned by feminists in Over the past 50 years. ginza contacts But now it's time to look ahead. Where are we now? How do we proceed? And what do we need?
In my bookcase is a handful of activists manuals, mostly from anarchist angle. Can the feminist movement something with that? Whether we focus more on lobbying ginza contacts and equal opportunity organizations? We want a radical change or minor changes in the margin? We behave like an autonomous movement by a broad base or some professional SPECIALISTES (politicae, university research workers) who will do the work for us? Today seems feminist "movement" to consist largely inaccessible gender studies research and harmless equal opportunities policy. I am for the development of a radical movement in which everyone can participate and for collective action ginza contacts to cause a tidal wave that is changing radically our society. Feminist activism of the '60s,' 70s and '80s were an inspiration for me since when women get to work to make the world a feminist. I want to learn from the experiences of previous generations of feminists to know which strategies work and to avoid the mistakes of the past. Done with the small waves followed by backslashes, time for a flood!
During National Women's Day this year (11 November 2010) will be discussing the current ginza contacts state of the women's movement and strategies. How do we reach out? How do we achieve our goal? How we work together ginza contacts and with whom? What is the role of men? It seemed like a good opportunity to think again about yourself strategies, action methods and organizational structures. Inspired by the range of ideas and alternatives from radical activists tutorials and interviews with other feminists, I dared me to put together a list of 10 practical tips. These conditions or requisites necessary in my opinion if we want the feminist movement grows and thrives.
This text will not go into themes or goals, not on content and on "what" we want to achieve or change, but in action and organizational methods, on strategy, on the "how": opening of the how-build-weeks our movement-and-how-we-achieve our goals. I'm not going to write about what today is wrong in this world or about what we want for tomorrow, but about how we in the wrong world today to be able to evolve the ideal world of tomorrow. In other words, some basic tips to build a feminist movement, ideas and tools to protect us, to allow us to prepare for battle and our ideals into reality.
Below "things" are useful to watch as we create a feminist activist group or to contribute to the building of an autonomous movement. Probably a lot of it sounds ginza contacts logical and natural for some and many tips can be achieved locally already. In the second wave of feminism, several do-it-yourself methods, democratic organizational structures and alternatives developed and applied. Also in anarchist ginza contacts and many other globalist and radical leftist groups do they discussed. Much of the work and the knowledge from the second wave has unfortunately disappeared (such as bookstores and magazines that are then incorporated) or password (such as the analyzes ginza contacts of sexism and experiences with activism). It is therefore hardly recognized. ginza contacts Action Strategies from anarchist angle are also taken seriously enough. Still, I think this list is useful for the feminist movement today - and by extension other social movements - to examine what we have, what we are doing and what we need. Too little attention indeed still given to (some of) these 10 tips if they are not always applied. However, the tips in this text only the beginning. There is much more needed to reach a feminist utopia and discussions and thinking about feminist strategies should be further put. Time to us - again - to organize and collaborate, as autonomous feminist movement. On to the revolution!
(1) collective activism and individual change (2) non-hierarchical organizing ginza contacts (3) networking and meeting (4) means (5) Space (6) education (7) Media (8) resistance and protest (9) alternatives (10) pleasure and tranquility

I heard that Tupac comes back this year! If his death scene is put, that would rejoice greatly. Since I have song Keep ya head up (1993) know, Tupac can not go wrong for me: hard boss with baking sensation in his thunder. About street harassment and poverty and single mothers, including comfort.
Goosebumps every time. Tupac sings about how hard life is if you are poor and black, and he explains in this issue focus on how it can be extra hard for women. It starts with a good
Yes, Tupac who is a hero to so many people, a topic map as rape and condemns it. What good news! He shows himself pro-choice, back on the agenda in the context guapos arlington of the anti-abortion movement in countries including the United States and Spain (wait someone guapos arlington said there Belgium!):
Overall injustice The second guapos arlington verse is not necessarily feminist but about other injustices also intersectional feminism lie to my heart: the hard life of a poor black boy, always aankloten, smoking weed and your mom disappoint. About trying to do good, but also want to be a tough guy. About big dreams that are so difficult to achieve while your friends die. Tupac and not afraid to be back to what he goes through politics:
Social commitment ftw This song is great on all levels. First map the major social issues; second problematize and condemns those issues + calls the men to do it differently, and thirdly it provides solace. As the recognition and offers hope, it's empowering. And fourth, because Tupac was such a popular rapper, he has a huge audience reached it, and that in the world of hip hop, which is steeped normal nonetheless bitchez and pimps and hoes. Although he really does not show as exemplary in all his music, we can applaud this: tough rapper commends and supports women and criticizes misogyny.
Footnote guapos arlington 1: intersectional feminism is concerned with more than just gender-based oppression. It recognizes the interplay between things like gender, origin, color, guapos arlington class, age, sexual orientation and ability. Different "sections" of discrimination may overlap and a "suppression system" that constitute clear discrimination as racism, sexism and homophobia beyond. See Tupac's mother: black + woman + arm. I also did not like Freddie Mercury until I was 18, because I had heard that he had died by

There used to be a very specific reason why I was a feminist. It was very simple. glamour card First, I was with a woman who fought for women's rights. What were its shortcomings too, for that matter glamour card they really had a lot in her march. There was a time when I he-le-time did not understand where they got it. She showed me the statistics on rape and I replied with the well-known "not all men and I do not at all." When I think back to my arrogance and privilege when I shake my head. And although glamour card I still am as privileged, I am also now aware.
As time went on, I did my own research. Luckily I was surrounded by strong women - two mothers and many incredible friends - who spoke before women and against stereotypes affecting everyone. I also looked at the statistics again and this time my reaction was the right (and I still think so). Maybe she was a bit exaggerated and with a large portion fist shaking the world, but I was not complacent and I certainly was not going to just keep watching passively.
Of course not everything is black and white and I was forced to ask myself why I'll fight for women and not for example. Against Racism, glamour card which also is a big problem. Although I'm not entirely sure on that point, I came to the conclusion that, just because glamour card you can not work for everyone, it does not mean that you have to work for anyone. For me it was always there to find errors and improve it in any way, however small.
With the same idea, I started to put me into the earth for all kinds of small ways (like the earth needs it I put myself in the survival of mankind -. The planet will continue to run even when we are no longer there ) and I have social justice movements other looked under where I can put my shoulders. And it took me some time and a lot of loud arguing with intelligent people took to refine my views and after a few years, finally to do introspection with feminism that was strong in my way of looking at things.
In short, my vision of feminism a vision of the "correction" of inequality. Inequality arising from the marginalization of women (hence the movement glamour card is also called "feminism" and not "equal ism"). Feminism is a way of looking at the world, to see the multitude of discrimination that women (and sometimes men) are suppressed by archaic rules and want to solve this then. With small steps. By, for example to your friends say that something is not ok. Even if it was meant as a joke.
So when I went to introspection, I saw this whole picture of myself that was formed by patriarchy; criticize what some feminists and anti-feminists mocked. glamour card As well as my entire ego, my way of doing things and this makes my youth were formed by this monstrosity that all of us fools.
To give you some context: I have two mothers, as I mentioned above. Both are my biological parents. Yep, but let that idea sink in. One of them came, some fifteen years after my birth, to the conclusion that she suffered from morfodysforie and was transsexual (well, actually she had already come to that conclusion, but she told me only then), and some transitioned years thereafter. This has shaped me in many ways, some of which I only now beginning to understand it.
To give you some more context: I grew up in a normal school in one of the most boring country in the world. It's glamour card safe, nothing ever happens and if someone is murdered on the street, this regional news and the newspapers did not mention about it. It is as safe here as it can be. I grew up with the idea that "people of color" as anyone and thought no more about it (until I met a few, because in my country very much and my opinion did not change.) There. I also thought that women were simply beings glamour card who first were nice and then fell in love with other boys / men. In one way or another, even with a "father" who one time thought that "he" was gay, I grew up with the idea that being gay was something glamour card only. I learned this at school, games where "anyone who does not jump gay profile" was.
I also did not like Freddie Mercury until I was 18, because I had heard that he had died by "being gay." Although I grew out of the "homosexual is bad" phase, there was resentment which I never knew that was there. I immediately had a "ew, this is bad" reaction when I was told that someone was gay.
In proportion as I got older and my mother led transition, there was an even bigger problem and I n

Women: Feminism will be sustainable or it will not be
The integration of gender and commitment glamour beauty of women are crucial for sustainable glamour beauty development. Women's organizations, however, will also need to look beyond the 'own' agenda, they want to safeguard the rights of women. Magda De Meyer
Humanity is today one of the biggest challenges in its history. Climate warming and all the harmful consequences that go along with them, loss of natural resources needed for life and survival (forests, agricultural lands, freshwater resources, oceans ...), mass extinction of animals and plants, resource depletion, mineral ....
All this in a context of ongoing population growth calls for reflection and change. It is estimated that by 2050 we will have 10 billion people. This will increase glamour beauty the pressure on the planet.
Which planet, and what kind of world would we want to leave our children? If we do not respond appropriately will further decline of the earth, hunger, poverty, violence and armed conflicts increase on a large scale. Especially glamour beauty the poor in the South and in Africa, mostly women, today already experienced glamour beauty the negative effects of 'unsustainable' development. Women are also the largest group of poor people who directly depend for their survival on the 'country'. glamour beauty Exactly that group is already glamour beauty the worst affected now and has little or no means to make adjustment to the changed circumstances.
In 'Emissions and Adaptation Gaps: Can We Bridge the Cracks glamour beauty in Climate Policy "(February 2014), the United Nations Environment Programme glamour beauty reports glamour beauty that an average glamour beauty increase in global temperature by 2 C, the harvest yields in Sub-Saharan Africa about 10% will reduce and by 2050 will increase the number of undernourished people globally at least 25%. This is only about the climate aspect of food security. Factors such as inequality, population growth, and practices such as land grabbing by multinational companies are not settled here.
It is increasingly clear that the rudder must be reversed dramatically and quickly. Growing support. But it lacks governments and policy makers too often the political will and courage to make serious work there, to look beyond their own interests and to think long term. See for example the failed climate negotiations in Poland last year or the whole brouhaha us around a possible road pricing for individual traffic. Therefore grassroots political pressure must be increased and greater support for sustainable development are created in the population. Women's organizations can and should play a leading glamour beauty role. Women's rights and women's lives are at the heart of these issues. It literally comes to life and survival of our children and grandchildren.
Today we have the 'choice'. Shall we continue in the usual way with the primacy of economic interests and the mantra of economic growth, a model that 'more' is equated with 'better' and that competition and the law of the strongest dominate? Or we will choose the path of sustainable social development? In the previous advertising redbook section, I briefly outlined what benefits there are some of attached advertising redbook to feminism for men, which points itself imply their active cooperation, and how feminism men in thinking about their own position in society.
Unlike men who like feminists believe that the specific issues that affect both genders, advertising redbook a cause of the same system, think MRAs that patriarchy advertising redbook and patriarchal thinking are fabrications. According to them the cause of systemic problems that befall men, feminism.
This is crucial to remember. advertising redbook How reasonable supporters of MRA also draw or how sensible the issues they raise are also (like the taboo around battered men), the culprit is feminism, or worse, women in general.
Some people draw parallels between MRA and feminism, and then look at some radical feminists who also operate very exaggerated language or reckless actions, to decide that the truth does lie somewhere in the middle.
That is a fallacy, and a dangerous advertising redbook increase. You can compare it with people who believe the earth is flat. How reasonable they may seem or how good they are in describing flora and fauna, there apron something fundamental to their faith. Nor is it possible to simultaneously believe that the earth is round and flat, let alone that a compromise is possible between the two theories.
The consequences of the false belief that men's problems are the fault of women (or a conspiracy theory that claims that a group of women behind the scenes advertising redbook determines the world order) translate into fierce, bitter misogyny. advertising redbook Under the guise of standing up for men's problems, let MRAs regulated in the most odious forms themselves heard to the address of feminists.
Moreover, advertising redbook MRAs repeatedly caught falsifying or misrepresenting statistics, advertising redbook the faking of radical feminist messages to act against, or "out of principle" advertising redbook claim on juries to explain alleged rapists innocent women to turn a heel.
Granted, that term sounds heavy. It's not that feminists and their allies believe that somewhere a secret society of old men with long beards (though) gather to discuss how they will oppress women.
The "patriarchy" is rather a deeply entrenched, systemic set of cultural attitudes that passed like a thread running through the whole society. Examples of such attitudes are for example that women would not be able to complex intellectual effort, would not be suitable to lead, should dress modestly, or that their sexuality is not their own property.
With the pretext of standing advertising redbook up for legitimate issues that men get as a group, MRAs actually want to go back to the time when women no space given in society to formulate their own opinion or to claim their place in the public space (unless opinions that match their vision).
Many of their campaigns advertising redbook are aimed at feminists to silence or to suspect - a dark brown hint that them to not do is to men's problems. That makes for feminism again that little bit harder and more complex to go against the tide, and men again that bit harder when they start asking questions about their identity. Because, and I have no doubt, some of their messages are very attractive for insecure men.
Want to know more? You can my English, five-part blog series where I follow the most important aspects of MRA deeper analyze. After this trip, however, I'm going into the third and final part of this series further into the role of men in feminism, and some battle points to work towards a world with more equality.

In Part 1 of the series I played cards Reclaim The Media sexism in the images vanity fair online and messages of (mainstream) media, films and advertising. Part 2 considered the sexism that can occur in the workplace in media organizations vanity fair online and -redacties and their often hierarchical and undemocratic character. Feminists want to put an end to sexism, exclusion and oppression. But how do we stop the sexism in the media? What can we do about yourself? There are several strategies vanity fair online to take action against sexist media: awareness, awareness and media education protest and criticize existing mainstream media outside existing mainstream vanity fair online media change from within to create your own media
When the first strategy is observed that there are problems with the media content vanity fair online and that is always that do not change so much in one-two-three. Therefore, it is to intervene in the media production, vanity fair online instead of ensuring that the "public" aware of the problems in the media content, financing and production. They are sensitized vanity fair online and taught to look critically at media. You can, for example a "gender perspective" look and discover how the gender balance in news, films, soaps, etc all skewed, or to realize that media messages vanity fair online are always subjective. Come
A kind of action you can take is sexism-spotting: Go with your friend-inn-and sexism vanity fair online hunt! Look around on street to sexist commercials and draw pictures of it. Collect all this footage and share it with others so clear that it is a trend and that there is no just a one-time sexist advertising poster. Is Just that large amount of sexist images and messages around us is problematic. There are already made movies that most rude sexist and misogynistic commercials combining past and present. Is demonstrated that the advertising vanity fair online world has not gone ahead:
Examples of (DIY) media education groups are feminist reading groups, discussion groups or awareness (consciousness-raising groups), and action groups that provide education and media analysis training. Jen, a "media watch" Startup group yourself. Such a group is doing to raise awareness, launch awareness campaigns and criticizes eg racist, homophobic or sexist media.
Protest Activism against sexist media can range from lobbying to critical opinion pieces to street actions. The protest and criticism is directed against media organizations, vanity fair online but certain actions the public can be simultaneously sensitized. This can influence public opinion, which in turn can put pressure vanity fair online on the media organizations.
Some ideas for action (you can be very creative in his): Write a zine or a blog with your media criticism. Write letters to the editor critical of this complaint. Plug critical folders vanity fair online in women's and men's magazines. Fall in at a (live!) vanity fair online Shot of M! LF and demand that the men are now once (literally) in the nude put in the same ridiculous vanity fair online poses in which women are always seen. Wondering how they react! Adbusting: an often original response to sexist advertising posters. Stick stickers on advertising posters. Can be found for example in the Feminist Starter useful stickers and tips (street) for actions. On the website of the Feminist Poster Project are also stickers vanity fair online and posters. Make parodies sexist commercials. Take action for the office of an advertising agency that creates and sexist vanity fair online advertising image using street out what the problem is with their advertisements. Unite with (other) organizations to make your voice louder. Take inspiration from the film Itty Bitty Titty Committee.
Strategy "Within the fighting system" is less feasible / accessible to everyone. It is especially suitable for those who are already working in an editorial or media project, or less active for the "public". Feminist journalists themselves are trying to effect change by working together, to express criticism to cease to make their reports gender awareness, participation and increasing participation, etc.
But it can also be something more daring. For example, occupy the office of a women's magazine like Flair (whether you work or not) and a feminist vanity fair online issue (without commercials of course) it! In 1970 Ladies Home Journal is probably the first time organized vanity fair online such a sit-in action by American feminists. vanity fair online They presented the editor vanity fair online a long list of demands and managed to get published that was partially written by the campaigner esters. What can men who are interested in feminism and the feminist movement do want to support? How can t

Articles were written about men and feminism earlier on this blog. This text is more specific about what men can and can not do within feminism. Are You a (cis) man and you consider harpers bizzare yourself (pro) feminist? This text is for you!
What can men who are interested in feminism and the feminist movement do want to support? How can they be useful and solidarity, support feminism, but not dominate the movement? What need of male feminists allies? More support, less voice!
To Do Aid feminist ideas and fight against sexism: Speak out against sexism and other wise men on their sexist behavior. Make it clear that sexist jokes, sexual harassment, macho behavior, harpers bizzare discrimination, prejudice, etc are not OK. Make it easier for feminists / women to be active: Offers to provide childcare to sticking posters to make copies to put tea to clean, wash off, bake cookies ... This kind of chores gives women space and time to be with "real" activism, harpers bizzare theory, personal harpers bizzare awareness and political development. Now it is often women who do these jobs for men and men who are campaigning / organizing / writing / lecturing / etc which gender role stereotypes remain. Time for some more balance, roldoorbreking and role reversal! Inform yourself: Read articles, books and blogs written by feminists. No, we are not talking about Derrida and Foucault. Realize that you as a man have privileges: Use your privileges to support feminism (for example, you are going to be taken seriously faster when you are addressing feminist issues harpers bizzare than a woman does), but do not let it stand in the way of other feminists. Also, do not abuse your privileges. Eventually you have to doing away with it and go your (pro) feminist struggle for a great piece to abolish male privilege.
Not To Do think that because you call yourself (pro) feminist, you never exhibiting sexist behavior or do not have male privilege: You wish ... Be aware of your privileges. Be self-critical. Stop macho / dominant behavior. This can sometimes sit in small and subtle things. Search the Internet for checklists with male privileges that help you to become more aware. Require that every space, every group and every activity is accessible to you: Sometimes women * are required areas / groups. Inform yourself and think about why, but demand no explanation of feminists. (* People who identify as women, some feminist spaces / activities are defined as only accessible to women / transgender / lesbian / intersex people..) Often / lot / long speaking and writing: Feminism is about stopping the dominance of men (and by extension all other forms of domination). So your dominance, whether you're conscious of it or not, whether you liked it or not now. Learn to listen and also to even say anything. Encourage women to take to lead and take the initiative harpers bizzare the word (but not in a paternalistic way). Take yourself an implied step back into the background. You may if you are a spectator at a lecture, harpers bizzare ask a question but you do not give endless speech or being the first to speak. No, even on facebook / blogs you do not participate in all feminist discussions. Using Power Techniques: Men often tend to dominate meetings harpers bizzare and debates so that women no space or say more. Analyze your behavior and that of other men in groups. Stop using power techniques. Better a whole meeting silence and listening than talking a whole meeting (this also applies to meetings of non-feminist groups). Respect what women have to say even if you do not agree. Make their ideas and views are not ridiculous and not. Ignore them Take Leadership Roles: Oops, you end up at the wrong move! But wait ... in that other movements, organizations, activities and places can you (formal and informal) harpers bizzare leadership ever give to a woman, for a change ... Put in place once a task / role usually by women only performed (and usually gives less status). Complain about how hard men and that men have experienced the same sexism: If you reason to be active in feminism, are you better stay away. Feminism runs in the last place cismannen, while you can as a man may sometimes suffer from stereotypes and gender roles imposed. But this is nothing compared to what women have to deal with. A thunderous applause and eternal adoration expect because as a (pro) feminist out, feminism promote yourself, participates aa

Imagine international women day that the women had enough. That the cashiers their shops closed, the teachers their classes left behind, nurses hospitals left and nannies their crèches did close, secretaries and management assistants are the towel gifts, the journalists their pen on the willows hung and fashion models stopped beautiful. That unemployed international women day mothers and housewives refused any longer to mothering or keep house. That the workers and clerks international women day it flatly refused to work even the waitresses their customers no longer saw food and drink, the police international women day traffic cops in the soup run and showed the students the books angrily clapped shut. That all those women took to the streets and cried out: now we have had enough
A silly dream of a Dolle Mina with an overheated imagination, you say? However: last week it was in Barcelona so far. On October 22, there are thousands of protesters took to the streets under the slogan: Vaga the Totes (General Strike) and Les Dones movem el mon, l'ara aturarem! (Women international women day set the world in motion, together we put him stop!). According to him this action was the result of more than a year to plan and organize and work by hundreds of feminist action groups international women day across the country.
Spain is one of the European international women day countries - was the hardest hit by the financial international women day crisis - in addition to Greece. And although the number of unemployed in June 2014 for the first time declined since 2011, the situation international women day for many there is still dramatic. Youth unemployment peaks still above 50% and there is still the vivid reminder of the many families who were put out of their homes because the rent or the mortgage could not pay more.
The action started early in the day, when hundreds of people marched through the streets of Barcelona to occupy the office of the Cercle d'Economia. This powerful economic think tank resists include active against the Catalan independence, which a referendum will be held soon. A manifesto was at Headquarters read that denounces the role of this type of influential circles international women day in perpetuating international women day a devastating market economic system that undermines both social justice and gender equality. " There was anger at the statements by Monica Oriol, president of the Circulo de Empresarios de Madrid (a kind of local VOKA) which declared that "avoid women between 25 and 45 earlier to take to the problem of pregnant women in the workplace dodge ".
Towards evening international women day came again thousands of people onto the streets to protest against the increase include the prices of public transport. In three metro stations, the activists kept the doors of the train open so everyone could get on. Later four major intersections were blocked in the city.
But why was it necessary to introduce a specific feminist struggle movement focus on? The manifesto complains international women day in any case that the savings on education, health and social security affect women more than men. In these sectors, a lot of women who see through this austerity international women day first affected by unemployment or reduced wages work. Coming on top of that the abolition of certain services in the care or child implies that the specific international women day women who now spend much more time caring for children and sick or elderly relatives.
Also wants the Vaga the Totes extend the 'strike' concept, so that everyone can join the movement. Not only the working part of the population, but also everyone who contributes in an invisible way: the unemployed, illegal immigrants, sex workers, students and pensioners. Laura Lozano puts it in the newspaper El Diario way: "Quite a few women can traditional strikes that are not attending because they must often combine several low-paid jobs or organized actions."
Is In the manifesto read that there is not looked in the direction of the trade unions as the main organizer of the protest movement. Or promoter "We would rather slower to build than building on existing. New structures We want women, lesbians, transgenders, the protagonists of the movement, because they just have to suffer international women day most from the machismo. Our needs and our demands must not disappear into the background. "
The following international women day action is already announced in the spring of 2015 calls on the motion for a new general strike. "Una vaga general - social i laboral, Productiva international women day Reproductiva i, i feminista radical '(A general strike therefore, socially and in the workplace, refuse international women day to be productive international women day or to provide international women day sexual services, feminist and radical). Finn Mackay is a radical lesbian feminist who has more than fifteen years has been active in the feminist movement. She founded in 2004 the London Feminist Network that the Reclaim the Night march in London called again in life., She is also co-founder of the Feminist Coalition Against Prostitution.
She spoke at the conference Feminism in London 2010 inspiring and passionately about some hot issues in the current women's movement: the need for a different interpretation of the term "feminism", the importance of individual freedom of choice, the herpolitiseren of the women, andrew harper s hideaway report the role of men, the legitimacy andrew harper s hideaway report of spaces reserved for women.
Today, you participated in the largest Women which originated in England continued for more than ten years. Our movement is back on the rise in our country, in the capital, and beyond. And as it grows, it is no surprise andrew harper s hideaway report that we see the increasing debate about its role and form. I have heard many discussions andrew harper s hideaway report about whether we should not feminism the past year, "rebrand one." As if given a movement that brought us all the achievements that we take for granted today as something to be ashamed about. That we can work in many diverse industries, we have access to education, domestic violence is considered a crime, we can open our own bank account. As if a structured andrew harper s hideaway report network of assistance and support, crisis centers, shelters, andrew harper s hideaway report childcare facilities, women's centers, helplines and legal services to women, children and men continue to support until today something to get the blush of the cheeks. Feminism does not need rebranding, but to reclaiming second, and that's andrew harper s hideaway report something we can do. All
Where this term is considered a dirty word, where misogyny and homophobia women reduce the demand of this movement for themselves. And because misogyny and homophobia prejudices we have to ask, jaw, we must ask why women do not identify with feminism, instead of the lies just to adopt and strengthen. And stereotypes are told about feminism and feminists
Feminism is a worldwide political movement andrew harper s hideaway report to the subordination of women to men to denounce and change. But again and again we hear people say that feminism is about women who make their own choices, regardless of what those choices andrew harper s hideaway report are, or in what uneven, pockmarked playing field they make those choices. We heard that just about every woman in the morning wakes up and makes a decision, feminist, like women who have a job or money. While it is true that every woman can be a feminist, feminism must mean something, otherwise it is meaningless.
We need people that our movement is a political movement, remember it is serious. It is not about a trip to the wellness center, a flattering andrew harper s hideaway report trouser suit or course pole dancing. andrew harper s hideaway report Our politics is literally life or death. Two women are killed every week in our country by a violent male partner, who will average about four years enters the cell. One woman in four is raped in the course of her life, while one leads to a conviction on any given twenty rapes. andrew harper s hideaway report Because we are feminists, we do not believe that nineteen of the twenty women who indicate a rape lie. Because we are feminists, we do not believe that the crisis in terms of rapes in our country is rooted in false declarations and complaints, andrew harper s hideaway report because we believe we feminists are women and we come together in our movement to demand justice.
The purpose of challenging male dominance, which we call patriarchy requires cooperation with many other fights, and unlike the lies that circulate about the history of our movement, andrew harper s hideaway report this is something that we have always done. Because women are the poorest of the poor in every country in the world, including our own, we know what capitalism is responsible. And feminism has much to contribute, political, theoretical and activist, andrew harper s hideaway report to the global fight for alternatives to capitalism, and especially now, to defend our assistance and public services, which disproportionately women and children andrew harper s hideaway report depend.
Most of us, feminists, many of you who are here today, are already involved in this struggle and many others - against racism, for peace and the environment. Many of us stand beside men in these movements, including ours, working together andrew harper s hideaway report in solidarity. The role of men in our movement is another point on which much was discussed last year.
It speaks for itself, all men have a role to play in the

Western feminism has changed since the second wave, not only by internal positive developments (eg

First I want to make clear that this text is not meant to condemn, feminism or queer theory, but to the language and accessibility of a large part of the contemporary theoretical queer feminist publications in question and criticize. I am a feminist and I've learned a lot from both the theory and practice of feminism. The awesome analyzes in feminist and queer texts and ways of working glamour shopping card together and take action to give me strength and inspiration. But the more I am disappointed by the elitism of much of the current theoretical publications.
Dealing with problems of exclusion, elitist behavior and power structures has always been an important issue in the feminist movement. Formal leader glamour shopping card shelf positions were not done in collectives in the second wave feminists because did not want to take over the hierarchies and inequalities of the male dominated society but arose informal elites and covered by the media spokeswomen [1]. Both informal and formally structured organizations had certain (groups of) women more power and they have that power used - consciously or not, deliberately or not - to exclude others, alienate or dominate. glamour shopping card Who speaks, who publishes, and who was she? Represent Who is brought to silence those who are marginalized, who has nothing to say? (See also: blog text about power techniques) we can Throughout feminist history see certain groups of women, such as lesbians glamour shopping card ("the lavender menace"), black women, poor women or women of lower classes who fought for inclusion and trans women. Able development - oppression based on disability glamour shopping card - and ageisme - oppression based on age - have led to exclusion and unequal power relations in the feminist movement, even though feminists were theoretically against and they wanted every woman welcome and embrace. (See also: blog text about self-criticism and privileges)
These problems are still more or less present in feminist groups today, glamour shopping card but feminists try to at least work on, they discuss it and find solutions. Books, articles, blog entries, and zines are written about the experiences of exclusion, informal hierarchical structures in groups and ableistische white middle class dominance. This is one of the things that attract me to feminism: we the personal and the political together and that our own democratic and egalitarian feminist groups so we may try to organize while at the same time striving for structural changes on a larger scale. The problems of elitism and unequal distribution of power / influence exist in other (action) groups, only they themselves let alone that they have to try to change something. Rarely aware of it,
While there comes a lot of great work to improve feminist organizational structures but we are still busy discussing and fighting exclusion of certain groups and marginalization of women - it is far from "off" - is another example of elitist practice the feminist movement crept. This problem is related to and influenced by postmodernism and the introduction of gender studies at the universities. Although glamour shopping card I welcome the acceptance of gender studies as a "real social science" and its presence and influence in universities and academic journals, but I also notice some disadvantages. The language used in academic publications is excessively difficult, the publications themselves are inaccessible (hard to get) and the development of feminist glamour shopping card theory and writing - feminist theory production - seems reserved glamour shopping card for a professional academic elite that is rarely connected or are participating to feminist activism, fight and practice. Unfortunately, these problems are rarely addressed in contemporary feminist glamour shopping card movement, even though they have major consequences, and therefore I feel compelled to discuss it in this text.
Western feminism has changed since the second wave, not only by internal positive developments (eg attention to intersection thinking, questioning glamour shopping card of universalism and criticized the privileges of certain groups of women), but also by the backlash from the 80s. With the disappearance of the feminist mass movement - similar to the disintegration of other social mass movements - feminists glamour shopping card began to focus on (or pull in back) subsidized institutes, individual cultural projects and academic research. Postmodern ideas started to influence feminist theory. I accept some aspects of postmodernism well as the questioning of dogma (also

Feminism is back never left | The Sixth Clan
There is a new feminist spring instead? asks the New Internationalist himself. It seems so. It hums and buzzes. Organizations are demanding action against the pay gap, suggest that sexual and domestic violence is a gender issue. Women shall ensure that a woman portrait remains raine and horne bowral on banknotes, and try to influence the public agenda. Also bustles in science, with a huge diversity of feminist studies.
Each age calls for a different form of feminism. Sometimes there are many actions simultaneously place that feels like a wave. Other periods have a more relaxed character. Feminist ideas sometimes somewhat go underground because powerful groups oppose revolutionary ideas of the type "women are people." Often this is done out of fear: women have not won, but what if they win ...? Huuuuuu! Because if win feminists, of course, nothing but the Apocalypse follow:
... We all need to remember That visionary feminist goal-which is not of a women running the world as is, but a women doing our part to change the world So THAT freedom and justice, the opportunity to have optimal well-being, can be Equally shared by everyone - female and male.
After feminism, raine and horne bowral the backlash survives that, pick up the fight again, and people speak of a new wave. The fourth, now. This wave utilized modern techniques. Women use social media to focus a spotlight on all forms of sexism and discrimination. In this way, the dominant storytellers of the Western world, raine and horne bowral get the white, educated men with a good income, (re) create a powerful opposing force. Women places across the gaze of men their own look, and that provides a completely raine and horne bowral different view of the world.
Women Thanks to the Internet and / or social media to mobilize easily, action and raise awareness for various issues. That's quite a bit. The current fourth wave has a mix from old and new themes, says New Internationalist. The age-old struggle against violence, raine and horne bowral for example, but also new emphases:
It feels as if feminism Has A are more populist today. It's alright to be a feminist and like Beyoncé. Men are increasingly Encouraged to join the struggle for gender equity. There are pushes for more women on corporate boards or to run for high office. 'It's not what we in second-wave feminism thought we would work on, "chuckles Joni Seager," but I think it's complementary in a "small steps" kind of way. It opens up the old debate: do we want to be the Barbarians at the gate or the people in the boardroom? I say both. "
The Sixth Clan would add that there is in another new element. Now women can build an independent livelihood increasingly, it creates psychologically and practically more room to look very critically raine and horne bowral at men and appoint their behavior. Women calling men to take a stand on more openly. They are often part of the structural subordination of women, and can no longer.
Men can just play a crucial role in the solutions. For example, by, very simple, friendly to women and to behave raine and horne bowral like a decent human being (ie: do not save, do not rape, not willfully raine and horne bowral women pay and discharge when they are pregnant). And by very critical look at masculinity, how this out, what that means for things like child care, paid and unpaid work, women give their success raine and horne bowral without you then secretly punish them as castrating bitch. And so on.

These are all signs of a more conservative society that thinks the Sixth Clan. We are now four year

Women want win-win situation, but getting backlash | The Sixth Clan
"They wanted to win-win, he experienced:. Lose, loser" These words were written Maryam Schöttelndreier in De Volkskrant (article woman s world sweepstakes is behind a pay wall, so no link). Along with Wieteke of Sail to respond to the success of the novel Ventoux Bert Wagendorp, especially on stereotypes soaked odes to male friendship that followed this publication. From Sail and Schöttelndreier to question this machodiscourse. They bring criticism woman s world sweepstakes politely, but what they actually describe a backlash against women's emancipation.
Apparently, the book touches a nerve, suggesting both women. The second wave of feminism brought great changes in the lives of many women. Women wanted fairer share highlights include also professor Tonkens:
"One of the misconceptions about feminism is that it is just about the interests of women. woman s world sweepstakes It is about combating gender inequality, and that's in everyone's woman s world sweepstakes interest. Men also benefit from a more varied behavioral repertoire and taking jobs that supposedly belong to women. "Well, yes, says Tonkens there, apart from the household then. "That's just annoying, but it must be done."
Hence feminism in the Netherlands started with the Man-Woman Society, brings Schöttelndreier reminder. woman s world sweepstakes Many women felt that men had to stop the boss. Instead, they prefer an equal partner, both at home and at work. According woman s world sweepstakes Schöttelndreier But that was wrong with the men. Stop the boss to be at a loss. The request for a rebalancing was something most men would not like to work on.
,, So excited, almost relieved. Men Friendship! We do not talk, we do! As if they can breathe for the first time all together. All these years and tiptoe around the woman and her demands, show understanding, breath. And yes, here 's course to roar. "
Wagendorp itself sets the tone, by writing a piece about male friendship Volkskrant Magazine (June, 15). In it, he comes up with all sorts of clichés to come. The masculine friendship woman s world sweepstakes is characterized according to him more silence and more 'doing things together'. Furthermore, it boils down to "non-female" observes Schöttelndreier: not accessible for women, and more likely than female friendships depth. With a round tray with clay as a centerpiece. Since the boys indulged in silent men friendships. That bucket was for them. Girls do not. Kleiden
Yes say hello, reacts Wieteke woman s world sweepstakes of Sail. That is a very selective view of the past. From Sail can not remember that girls in the seventies were buried woman s world sweepstakes under the pink princess stuff, as now is the case. She remembers woman s world sweepstakes that girls could then relatively undisturbed play like they wanted, and indeed also kleiden. woman s world sweepstakes The time of the great differences according to Van Zeil just begun now. Today she has her five year old son to explain that his sister could also be a pilot. woman s world sweepstakes That goes for the boy barely, she notes. Look at Lego: pilot's something for boys.
Besides 'you rebelling against women by male heaven' and the current pink and blue dividing lines, there is something else going on. The rise of neuro sexism, where the Sixth Clan has often paid attention to. Schöttelndreier calls this brain fundamentalism woman s world sweepstakes and find it no coincidence that their ideas to gain influence now men were fatigued by egalitarianism. woman s world sweepstakes He can go with references to scientific sounding drivel about men and women's brains fishing again on his own, while at the chirping of the dragonfly summer weeks, she observes.
These are all signs of a more conservative society that thinks the Sixth Clan. We are now four years into an economic crisis, uncertainty increases, and what could be nicer to restore order between the sexes again in any case? He makes the plans, they eat it. That's a backlash, dear readers ... You will see this word in either of these articles come, but this is exactly what Schöttelndreier and Van Zeil mapping. A crying shame!

In the late 1960s there was a reaction from women and broke the Second Wave to. Feminists were then

When we talk about the evolution of Western feminism through time is often talked about "waves". These waves are certain periods with increased feminist battle [2], which usually takes the form of a mass movement., Between and after the waves there is a decrease of (visible) mass activism and a return to more conservative and patriarchal values rebecca black model which feminist ideas are as unnecessary, extreme, past, ridiculous and / or uncool depicted. This is called a "backlash" [3]. Yet speaking in waves and cycles also problematic, restrictive and simplistic because it suggests that there are no feminists rebecca black model [4] were active between the waves, which is obviously incorrect. Thinking in feminist waves is rather a construction to social trends regarding women's struggle easier to grasp, but the reality is more complex. [5] This description of feminist history also applies almost exclusively to Western countries and the struggle for women's liberation in other areas completely different (and not simultaneously) expired, often forgotten or ignored.
The so-called First Wave of Western countries took place in the second half of the 19th century and the beginning of the 20th century. At that time, political equality of women and especially the right to vote was a major issue. Of course we are thinking of the suffragettes - suffrage rebecca black model means the right to vote. But not all feminists are fighting for the right to vote. Anarcha-feminists like Emma Goldman for example, were critical and had little faith that would improve women's right to vote for political parties, the situation in which they lived well (enough). In Belgium, universal suffrage for women eventually only came in 1948. In addition to voting was education for girls feminist demand of the time. In Belgium, it is mainly the Gamond Zoë and her daughter Isabelle rebecca black model Gati the Gamond rebecca black model who have previously deployed by writing on this topic and by schools for underprivileged women and girls in focus.
Feminists had during the world wars temporarily cease their activities. Women were then employed in occupations that were previously occupied by men, but they were carried out by women because most men had to go to the front. However, it was when the wars were over, expecting women that they would "return to the fire" because the men would return "their" jobs. This had a conservative backlash resulted in the Western countries. In the decades that followed, there was a relatively great prosperity in the Western countries which made it possible that a very large proportion of married (middle class) female population could "stay at home" and did not work outside the home because families could get by with one income. But this house full time motherhood and families with a single rebecca black model male breadwinner were not long lasting rebecca black model and women were fed up because they were financially dependent on their husband and themselves were responsible for all the household what kept them inside and away from the public space.
In the late 1960s there was a reaction from women and broke the Second Wave to. Feminists were then engaged in controversies as "equal pay for equal work" (for example woman strikes like those of FN Herstal in 1966), abortion (illegal in Belgium until 1990) and contraception, lesbianism, violence against women, the status of women and childcare. In Belgium rebecca black model feminist groups such Dolle Mina, Marie Mineur, PAG, the VOK (Women's Consultation Committee), Sappho and Fem-Soc groups and organizations. Arose More traditional siled women's organizations and partisan women's groups made contributions to women's rights. The VOK organized from 1972 the first Women's Day on November 11 - not to be confused with the International Women's Day each year on March 8 - and still does every year in a different city. In 2009 Roeselare turn. [6] Many young feminists think "DIY feminism" and "DIY activism" something specific this time, something they / we invented, but also from the Second Wave feminists rebecca black model fit all DIY principles into their actions and projects. [7] Feminists of the 1970s focused instance itself woman health centers and women's centers, shelters, feminist cafés, bookstores and publishing companies, they published themselves periodicals and pamphlets, gave self-defense courses, electricity or art history at together, etc.
From the 1980s, most feminist organizations began to become more professional. Some were given subsidies which gave them more funds so they could take executives ters who could full-time gender and women's struggle to keep busy, instead of only as a volunteer star in their free time. Feminism is needed, feminism sofia sanchez is fun and feminism is alive and kicking. This should be

Feminist voices go unnoticed in the media, sofia sanchez at school we do not learn about the history and philosophy of feminism sofia sanchez and spasmodic attempts are made to marginalize feminist movement (and other radical social movements). The backlash against feminism, as described in Susan Faludi's book Backlash, expresses a certain patriarchal conservative agenda that harms the interests sofia sanchez of women. Anti Feminist books are put in the spotlight, a critical eye is ignored, the importance of feminism is systematically underestimated and the problems that women struggle to be either concealed or incorrectly assigned to feminist achievements. There is in other words, too little sofia sanchez attention to feminism and little knowledge sofia sanchez about feminism. We need to make feminism back visible.
Feminism is needed, feminism sofia sanchez is fun and feminism is alive and kicking. This should be only a little more put in the spotlight. Even though many are behind feminist views, yet little is known about feminism and misunderstandings and inaccuracies scattered. See the book Reclaiming the F-Word by Catherine Redfern and Kristin Aune. Feminism (our demands, our achievements, our theories, our history ...) is made invisible in our society, sofia sanchez concealed and distorted. Waiting change to the media, wait until the schools are progressive, wait until the world is evolving positively, which can take a long time if we do nothing themselves. Feminism has always been a struggle because it was necessary. Obedient and wait patiently leads to nothing. Raising awareness and action is important, if we want something is done with our requirements, ideas and theories. The voice of feminism may sound loud, when we convene.
How can we make feminism visible again and make sure it has an effect on public debate and our daily lives? And how can we teach each other to a gender glasses and critical feminist gaze to look at the reality and the dominant ideology?
Must first be shown that feminists are present, sofia sanchez we are having a lot. But how do you recognize a feminist? Not her looks, even though it is so often claimed. Or is it? Of course you can wear clothing with all feminist quotes, slogans, cartoons or logos. For example, buttons / badges, T-shirts or patches on your backpack or jacket covered well. But you can also make clear that there is a big feminist presence using street art is: feminist posters to hang your window, paste posters sofia sanchez on poles or feminist templates as decoration. Folders stabbing in women's magazines, flyers or bookmarks in feminist (feminist) library books explain, sofia sanchez can also advertise the feminist movement and its ideas. And of course, the phrase "I'm not a feminist but ..." avoid conversations. Sure we are feminists!
Our ideas to be Second distributed. You can with homemade media: for example, making movies and putting on youtube, himself a zine writing, books and brochures published, pirate radio stations stomping out of the ground, podcasts recording, writing songs and playing with a feminist band, making feminist films, massive readers' letters and send opinion pieces, stickers paste, write blogs and build websites, e-zines or newsletters release, etc. Also consciousness-raising groups and reading groups, film screenings, debates, lectures, workshops and other activities or just calls can play an important role together just as street protests and street contribute to public awareness.
